The Australian section of the London Chamber of Commerce and the colonial wool importers waited on the Customs authorities to-day to complain of the stoppage of wool not marked in accordance with the. Merchandise Mai ks Act. After hearing the arguments of the deputation the Customs officials agreed to grant one month's grace and release all wool at present detained. Melboubnk, November 7. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company sold 5000 bales at- their wool sales to-day. There was on animated competition, merino fetching prices equal to previous rates and crosabreds halfpenny to h penny higher. The following are the top figures : — Greasy merino, Is l£d ; lambs, Is 2d; pieces, 10£ d; crossbredsj 1b o£d ; eco.ired merinos, Is B£d ; scoured, lamb, Is s£d ; fleece, Is isd. CHBIBTCHUBCH, November 7. Owing to the steady advance in the value of wool, unusual interest was taken in the results of the sales which commenced to-day. Four hundred p.nd fifty »six bales were offered to-day. The bidding was animated, and prices resulted as follows :— Half-bred, 12 Jd; crossbred,. 10£ d ; long wool, BJd ; merino, lOd; quarter- bred scoured, 18id.
