News From Stanley

He says that on reaching Lake Albert Nyanza for the third time , after his visit to his rear guard —he heard that Emm Pasha and Jephsqn had been prisoners since August 1 8th, and that unless they received assistance before -' tke and of December any help would ~ be useless. It appears that the Equatorial Province revolted, and the Mahdists shortly after invaded the district. * After the firet battle the "■ natives were seized with a panic .and joined the inraders, who, suffering a ," reverse in an attack on Dufila, had " sent to Khartoum ' for assistance. No- *, explanation is given in the letter as* -to how Emm was rescued. Stanley merely says that he stayed at Wadelai for a mouth collecting fugitives, and left Albert Nyanza on May Bth, homeward-bound, via Victoria Nyanza. No hostile natives had been met with since leaving Kabbarega. ■ He expect* to reach the coast in' January.
