Manchester Road District
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — In the report of the Manchester Boad Board meeting, which appeared in your column on Tuesday last, a mistake? has been made as to the purport of the telegram received while- .the- meetiii'g was proceeding. This telegram did not refer to the rail' way reserve from Bunnythorpe to the Oroua river, but to the" road from Bunny* fchorpe to Ashurst, The remarks- in yoi.r leader being founded on the report are, o course, inaccurate. I hope to hear in a day or two that the Comnrissfoners have agreed to the railway reserve Jroni B'un*^ nythorpe to Oroua being proclaimed a^ road, when action will be at once taken. Just a word with regard to Mr Cham' berlain's letter in the same issue. . The road from' Cheltenham to Birmingham iff .- wholly within the Kiwitea Boad District, so that the Manchester Boad Board is not ' responsible for the large sized metal Mr C. complains of. . Before blaming at public body Mr Chamberlain should first as~ certain that such body is responsible for the neglect. — I am, &c r D. H r Macarthtou
