Kimbolton Road

' TO THE. EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — I wish to call the attention of the chairmen of the Kiwitea and Manchester Boad Boards, to'tlie ihetalon that portion of the Kimbolton road between Cheltenham and Birmingham. A great many of the stones measure six by twelve inches, l^ow, is it possible for any one to drive to Birmingham, especially with a heavy Icfad of goods, without- damaging his conveyance, when the wheels of the conveyance - are continually bumping over such stones. If something is not soon' done, it is quite Jikely one or both of the Boards will have an action entered against them for damages. I" met a man a few days since, going up with a load of goods, who said he was afraid of breaking the springs of his "conveyance before he reached Birmingham. To make a good road the stones should be broken as soon as the metal is piif on, because there is a good mixture of •cl «y in it which will bj.nd the stones if . they are cracked before the metal is allowed to set. But if left for a few weeks the metal will have set, and the •stones will lie on the top and the greater -part left to be an obstruction and possible danger, or kicked oft the road altogether. ' — I am, &c. „ T. E. Chasiberlain.
