Oaptain Sommerville, executive officer of the New Zealand Kifle Association, referring to the next meeting to be held at Dunedin in the second week in January, speaks c n fidently of it being a success Th attendance of competitors is estimated to reach over 400. Tasmania, South Australia, New South Wales, and Victoria will each send a team (ten men), while Queensland's contingent will number twenty. Captain niervilie is consulting the Wellington members of the Council aa to the reception to be accorded to the marksmen from the sister colonies. Notwithstanding the increased number of competitors it is expected that the meeting will not occupy more than a week as sixty targets will be used. It has not yet been decided whether the Manchester Eifles will be represented at the meeting. The commission held by Captain Edward Henry Power in the New Zealand Militia is cancelled. Major General Edwards will be in Christchurch on the Ist prox. He will travel up this coast to Auckland and leave for Sydney about tiie 10th idem.
