The Stock Market

STEVENS & GORTON'S STOCK

EEPOET,

Bulls, October 16

We had very bad weather at our Bulls sale on Bth October, which prevented the shorn sheep advertised coming forward, the vendors being unable to shear ; but we had fair entries of woolly sheep and large entries of cattle. The bidding was spirited, aud prices satisfactory. The same may be said of our sale at Awahuri yesterday, if anything the bidding was even brisker, and we bold all the cattle excepting one pen and every sheep. We quote : —

Cattle — \ t Bulls : 4 and 5-year bullocks, £3 18/6; 2£ to 3-year steers £2 10/- to £2 18/-; 18-inonths . to 2-year steers, 30/- to 33/-; 18-month heifers, 21/- ; yearlings, mixed good, 22/- to 26/-; cows and heifers, 31/. At Awahuri : 3 to 5-year bullocks, £3 15/-; fat coivs, £3 12/*; empty 2-year heifers, £2 ; 2-year steers, £2 6/- ; yearliug steers, 20/- to 24/- ; mixed iroaners, 14/- to 18/.

Sheep — Bulls : Woolly hog-gets, 9/7 to 10/1 ; ewes with lambs 10/8 to 12/-; good empty woolly ewes, 8/9. Awahuri : Fat shorn wethers, 8/1 1 to 9/4 ; 2 and 4 tooth shorn wethers, 8/7 ; shorn dry ewes, 6/9 ; woolly hoggets, 9/1 to 11/3 ; woolly dry ewe's, 10/8.
