.<• Austialian wheat, ex warehouse, 39/6 ; market quiet. Business in New Zealand long- berried wheat, ex store, is very restricted at 38/. Svgar — German beet is quiet at 12/-; Java beet 15/. The iron market is active at 53/6. Tallow.— Best mutton, 27/6 to 28/-; best beef, 26/6 to 27/. Ox hides, 3£d to 3£d per Ib. October 12. At the wool sales prices remain very firm, except in faulty scoured sorts, which barely maintain the July prices The Home trade has taken 54 per cent, of the number of bales offering. Fourteen hundred cases of kauri gum have been sold at an advance of i 4s. October 14. New Zealand hemp, £28 15s to £29.. The English wheat market has experienced a general advance of 6d per quarter; the Continental market is inactive, but the Ameriran is firm. Three months' bills are quoted at 3 J per cent. * Tallow — Medium mutton, 25s ; beef, 23s 9d. Up to date 223,400 bales have been o.italog led at the wool auctions, and 213,401) sold. ,
