Lord Mayor Whitebead and Cardinal' Manning urgo the strikers to> fulfil the terms of agreement. The dock riotsj were suppressed by police before any great harm wasdone. No fatalities occurred, and th» Directors of the Companies "have determined to resist opposition of regular hands, and retain " blacklegs" in spite of them. Tillet, chairman of the Labourers' Union, deprecates violence. September 19. . The shipping ring' intend shortly to increase the freights to the colonies in order to recoup the losses incurred by the recent strike. Eight- hundred men are now working: at the Albert Dock, and no further trouble has arisen. - s September 20.
