His Excellency has sent invitations to all Australian Governors to meet him at the opening of the exhibition. Auckland, September 17. The body of the railway porter Linnet, drowned at Cambridge a few days ago, wa-s found to-day at Taupiri. Te Kooti, accompanied by several of his people, arrived in the city to-day from Waikato. He comes in regard to the proposed application to the Supreme Court, that the order requiring him to find sureties be set aside. During the afternoon he consulted Mr Napier, solicitor, who is acting for him in the matter. A man namad James Devin, forinerty an hotelkeeper, wa9 found drowned in the harbour this morning. The Sydney fishin? ketch Gratitude is again on the North New Zealand coast. Wellington, September 18. Mrs De Castro, wife of the Eev. C. D. De Castro, died last night, after a protracted illness. In the supreme Court to-day, Judge Bichmond delivered judgment in the case of Poaka and others v. Ward and Smith. The motion is to prohibit the partition of a block of land m the Wau^uuiii district. Mr Ward is a judge of the Native Land Court, Mr Smith is a purchaser of several shares in the block, and the plaintiffs are owners of the remaining shares His i ! onor decided in favour of the defendants. In Banco to-day, a writ of attachment was issued against Mr Charles Cooke, solicitor, of Wanganui. This Day. Edward Walter Seeker obtained a diyorce to-day from his wife, on the grounds of adultery with Chas. Tricklebank, junr. Parties were married in 1884, and Mrs Seeker has since gone to Australia with the co-respondent. Evidence was given of adultery, and a letter from Mrs Seeker confessing was produced. A waiter at the Club Hotel, Lambton Quay, fell from the top story this morning while cleaning a window, and received of the brain, injury to the spine and other injuries.
