SLAVERY IN THE EAST. By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. (per united press association.) TarBSDAY Island, September 9. Eastern newß to band par British India Company's steamer 18 as follows : — It is reported that slavery of the cruellest form has been permitted by the Rajah of the Island of Lombak. Horrible barbarities are said to have been committed by the Arabs on the runaway slaves. Twenty- four members of Chinese secret societies have been arrested. Six were sentenced to death, and II to be flogged, and m the remaining cases sentence nan not been passed. The operations against the rebels in Tonquiu are progressing steadily and successfully. In a recent confliot the French troops killed 18 of the rebels.
