Manchester Road District
THE NUMBER FIVE WARD LOAN. The following clause appears in the Local Bodies Loans Act Amendment BiU which passed on Thursday— " Whereas under the prov's'ons of the original Act the Manchester Road Board lately took steps to raise a loan of four thousand pounds for the construction of certain works in Number 5 Ward of the Manchester Road District under " The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act 1886" : And whereas it was proposed to expar.d a sum of six hundred and five pouii'l* ten shillings out of the said loan £■ construct the Bunnythorpe-Feilding Eoad from Bunnythorpe to the Oroua River : And whereas the poll upon the said proposal was duly taken on the fourth day of March 1. st, and the said proposal was carried, but it was afterwards diaio e.ed that the area through which it was proposed to construct the said road was not, within the Manchester Road District. And whereas it is expedient to vali date the proceedings upon and in relation to the said poll : Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same as" follows :— The poll of the ratepayers of the Manchester Road District so had and tak'. n on the fourth day of March last, and all other acts and proceedings in relation thereto, whether prior or subsequent to the said poll, shall respectively be deemed valid and effectual for all purposes notwithstand the fact that the area through which it was proposed to construct the Bunnythorpe Feilding Road was not within the Manchester Road District. [The Local Bodies Loan Act Amendment Bill was thrown out in the Legislative Council yesterday by 16 to 11.]
