At the inquest on the hody of William Kennedy, manager of the Equitable Insurance Company, who was found dead on the beach in the harbour, a verdict of alcoholic poisoning was returned. It shows that over seven hundred illegitimate births are registered annually, and last year forty-four children were abandoned.
