LONGBURN FREEZiNG WORKS.
TOi THE^EIHTOR OF TH STAR. Sir,— l:do not wish in any way to discourage^ or find fault, with the promoters of the Longburn Freezing Works. On the contrary; Iv wish them every success, for any legitimate scheme that would end in improving the wretched and miserably low prices in cattle which have existed throughput the colony lately, should, and no doubt will; be haded with delight by all right-minded people, whether they have any direct interest in the matter or not. But I would like to ask the " Directors " if they have ever considered the importance of obtaining railway extension jt> to they< Ship's Wharf" in Wellington, and the benefits , that would necessarily accrue thereby. To my mind tbis is most essential in more ways than one ; — They would save labor, which is an important item. !'-■*• Labor saved, is money gained." Though this would entail an additional outlay to the Railway Company I believe it would be a good investment. . I have spoken to several people about the .matter and they agree with me that it would be a good thing. They have not, however, that I -am aware of, committed their ideas to print, so I thought I would set the example;— l am, &c, . . - Progress.
