The Manchester Rifles will parade for drill on Friday next, in undress uniform. Captain Sotnmerville has recevied letters from the Victoria Rifle Club complaining that in the draft programme of the N.Z.R. th*y are de barred from shooting- for the Champion Belt. The complaint comes badly from Victoria considering how the New Zaalanders were treated when they went across the water. It is not at all likely that any alteration such as they desire will he made. A complimentary dinner was tendered to General Edwards by the Naval and Military Club, Melbourne, at which ho stated he hoped to submit a scheme for united action for defence of the colonies, which would be approved of. He expressed him self gratified ,vith the coudition of the. works .already completed, awd gav^ great' credit to the artillery for the care of guns and batteries.
