Typhoid Fever in Wellington
(per press association.) Wellington, August 9. An inspection of the Government Buildings, discloses the fact that there are. two large cesspools which are cleared out , once evsry two years only. The. inspector of Nuisances conisders the state of things dangerous, and recommends that the Government be compelled to remove them. Several householders are to be proceeded against for having nuisances on their premises. The Council's Inspector who has been making a minute investigation of places where typhoid wag reported to exist, finds the Btate of houses generally very' clean,- and only came aoross two cases of fever. As far, as can he ascertained, there is nothing approaching an epidemic, but in nearly every case those attacked have been men well known, and consequently great publicity iB given to their illness. Another remarkable thing is that in nearly everf case tbe sufferer 16 of the male sex..y-Ono suggestion is that the new practice of exposing rubbish tins on the footpath is responsible' for the outbreak, while some people think the fumes from the destructor chimney have something to do with it.
