For several Season's he performed successfully in the Nelson District, both on the flat and over hurdles, his lsst performances being on last New Year's Day, when he won the Motueka Hurdles, carrying the top weight list 21b, and the Motueka Cup, also top weight, 9st 21bs. He stood one Season at the Stud, viz : in 1887,, the. result being a very promising lot of youngsters. As will be seen by his tabulated pedi* gree, Lochhagar shows a powerful combination of stout winning strain's, notably The Marquis, Stockwell, The Baron, Irish Birdcatcher, Cinizelli, Touchstone, Pocahonfas, Melbourne, Gleacoe, B«y Middleton, Fisherman, Emelius, Fifing . Dutchman, The. Colonel, Whalebone, Waxy, Pot Bos., Eclipse, &c, . , : .■".-.
