Monday, July 29th. Present — Messrs Carson (chair), Sansou, Bridge, Baker, Fry, and Notman. Appointments' Committee. —In committee, the following business was transacted : — Marton — Mr Deighton's resignation accepted, Misaes H. Carter and B. Low to be communicated with' as to filling the vacancy ; Feilding—Attendance does not warraut an increase, but an assistant can be ex changed for two pupil teachers ; Oroua — Mr O'Brien asked for a transfer to a better school, and the Board, in agreeing to pay him on an average of 1 9, drew the attention of the local committee to the advisability of supplementing his salary. Correspondence. — Mr Fry's report on the Kimbolton and Cheltenham Schools on the quostiou of altering the time in schools was not agreed to. — A request was received from Bunnythorpe for the conversion of teacher's rooms into class rooms. Resolved to ask the Committee for an estimate. — Respecting a residence site at Mangaone, it was resolved to offer the Committee £10, provided they hand over an acre clear of expense to the Board. — Resolved, That the Secretary be instructed to order several, sets of T squares, for distribution to the various schools. — The various offers for school sites at Palmerston North were referred to Messrs Fry and Sauson to inspect and report on. The Board then adjourned.
