Strange Conduct of Inspector Bullen
] PER TOOTED PRESS ASSOCIATION. I WELLINGTON, July 27. Robert Bullen, formerly Inspector of Police at Napier, has been arrested on several charges of extraordinary conduct. The first charge is that of threatening a woman named Elizabeth Mackinder. He went to plaintiff's house, and accused her of robbing him of £150, at the same time saying : "I will do for you; I will break every bone in your body." Bullen had in his possession a loaded revolver and threatened to shoot a man who came to the woman's assistance. Bullen fired his revolver in the air, and : then went away. Mr Ewards, solici tor, said he intended laying a far more serious charge against him on behalf of George Norbury and Austin doom, both of whom Had been threatened by Bullen with a revolver, and an indictable information against accused was being prepared. Austin Ooom, is a carpenter, residing next to Mrs Mackinder, and nt about midnight saw Bullen with a carter removing Mrs Mackinder' 8 furniture. asked the accused his authority *^^tot the action, whereupon the latter knocked him down with his fist, and drawing his revolver from his hip pocket, presented it in Ooom's face, saying, " I will: blow, your b brains out," and at the same time making use of other threatening epithets. Accused was remanded. The Bench refused bail. This Day. Ex-Inspector Bnllen was committed for trial to-day on a charge of violently assaulting and wounding Austin Combe. This was the man at whom he presented a revolver. Two more charges will be heard this afternoon and another to-mor-row. Some of the complainants profess they are in fear for their lives of Bullen.
