It shows a total amount of £2495, made up of — Harbour Board for the past 2£ years, £778; Borough Council, 2 £ years, £1617. The books are not yet audited beyond these periods Wellington, This Day. A man named James -McNicol was walking under the cliffs at Napier two years ago when a stone fell on his head, inflicting a wound aboye the right ear. He applied to the hospital here, as he could not control his passions; to have sbmWthiug done. A consultation, was held, when it was decided to try trepanning. This was most successfully completed. The patient recovered his senses and health in three weeks" after the operation. Dunedin, July 24. j In the Supreme Court to-day a sum-, mons was heard calling on the Official Assignee to return a deposit of £250 that had been made as a portion of an. offer for the purchase of assets in the estate of Proctor, Jones and Co. The negotiations fell through, and the Assumee claimed the right to retain the deposit as an asset. Mr Justice Williams made an order, ln the terms of the summons, but declined tb give costs against the. Assignee. .
