A Bed Letter Day with the Feilding Drag Hounds

The run on Thursday last with the above hounds was indeed a brilliant one. They met at Sandon village, where I was sorry to see such a small number of members put in an appearance. This, of course, was owing to the majority of the Wellington visitors not having returned. Mr Edwards, with his usual kindness, had picked out the cream of the country, and laid the drag for about seven miles, oves as lovely a piece of hunting country as one could wish to ride over. Westarted on the Sandon side of the cemetery, and left Mr Edwards' house on the right; then straight on to the road which, runs up to Mr J. G. Wilson's farm buildings ; down the road they ran for a quarter of a mile, doubling to. the left into Mr Edwards' property ; crossing the Sandon and Bulls road opposite Mr Boberts' ; on through Mr Hirst's paddocks, pointing: straight to Mr Bailey's house ; leaving; the house on our right we came nearly into Sandon village again. Thus ended, the best and fastest gallop I ever had or heard of in New Zealand. Mr Lovejoy got a bad fall crossing the Sandon road. (He was not riding his own horse, Neck-or-Nothing), and was unable to follow the> hounds afterwards. Great credit is due to Mr J. G. Wilson's two sons who followed, the hounds, and rode as straight as & couple of darts the w-hole of the distance, being with Mr Edwards and Mr Boake^ the huntsman, who saw the finish, with. Mr EL G. Lance well up.
