In Melbourne Carbine is installed a nominal favourite, and 1000 to 40 has been backed a bout him. Manton, Maxim and Mentor have each been backed at 100 to 3. Taking an exhaustive retrospect of last season's principal winners, Mazeppa' gives their winners as follows : — Manton, L 3317; Cuirassier, LII9J; Leopold, L 894; Dudu, L 1160; Foxton, L 36 9; Chudleigb, L 548. The Feilding Drag hounds will meet at Sandon on Thursday instead of Wednesday as previously arranged.
