For several Seasons he performed successfully in the Nelson District, both on Ihe flat and over hurdles, his last performnnces being on last New Year's Day, when he won the Motueka Hurdles, carrying the top weight list 21b, and the Mofueka Cup, also top weight, 9st 21bs. He stood one Season at the Stud, viz : in 1887, the result being a very promising lot of youngsters. As trill be seen by his tabulated pedi« gree, Lochnagar shows a powerful combination of stout winning strains, notably The Marquis, Stockwell, The Baron, Irish Birdcatcher, Cinizelli, Touchstone, Pocahontas, Melbourne, Glencoe, Bay Middleton, Fisherman,- Emelius, Fifing Dutchman, The Colonel, Whalebone, Waxy, Pot Bos., Eclipse, &c. The Proprietors confidently expect to see this grandly bred son of The Painter, as worthily represent his Sire at the Stud, as their other great horse Somnus has done to perpetuate the name of the mighty Traducer.
