(per united press association.) Auckland, July 8. At the Supreme Court to-day, Judge Gilliea ordered that the discharge of H. Maiden, bankrupt, be suspended for I twelve months on the ground that the debtor had not kept proper books. His i Honor said that if an illiterate man went into business, and in the course of four years paid his creditors only 7d iu the pound, and kept no books, he showed plainly that he was not fit to be in business, and he was not entitled to be discharged. Gisbobne, This Day. At a meeting of farmers it was decided to form a Farmers' Co-operative Society —Capital, 2000 shares of £1 each. CHBiSTCHrBCH, This Day. A letter has been received from Santley's agent, stating he will give four onncerta in Chnstchurch. The Musical Sooieties of the city are arranging to unite their forces for the purpose of holding a Santley festival. Five cases of typhoid are reported to the Sydenham Borough Council. The outbreak is traced to the use of milk from a certain dairy. The latter is clean but the cows drank water polluted by the drainage from a cowshed and piggeries.
