Lochnagar, like his celebrated Sire, is a Dark Brown Horse with black points, stands about 16 hands, any amount of ' bone and substance, and very good tempered. For several Seasons lie performed successfully iv the Nelson District, both on (he flat and over hurdles, his bst performances being on last New Year's Day. whcu he won ihe Motueka Hurdles, carrying the lop weight list 21b, and the Mofueka Cup, also top weight, 9st 2lbs. He stood one Season at the Stud, viz. : in 1887, the result being a very promising lot of youngsters. As will be seen by his tabulaled pedi* gree, Lochnagar shows a powerful combination of stout winning strains, notably The Marquis, Stockwell, The Baron, Irish Birdcatcher, Cinizelli, Touclislone, , Pocahontas, Melbourne, Glencoe, Bay Middleton, Fisherman, Emelius, Flying Dutchman, The Colonel, Whalebone, Waxy, Pot Bos., Eclipse, &c.
