Lochnagar, like his celebrated Sire, is a Dark Brown Horse with black points, stands about 16 hands, any amount of bone and substance, and very good tempered. For several Seasons he performed successfully in the Nelson District, both, on the flat and over hurdles, i his last performances being on last New Year's Day. when he won the Alotueka Hurdles, carrying (he top weight list 21b, and the Motueka Cup, also top weight, 9st 2lbs. He stood one Season ' at the Stud, viz. : in 1887, the result being a very promising lot of youngsters. As will be seen by his tabulated pedigree, Lochnagar shows a powerful combination of stout winning strains, notably The Marquis, Stoekwell, The Baron, Irish Birdcatcher, Cinizelli, Touchstone, Pocahontas, Melbourne, Glencoe, Bay Middleton, Fisherman, Emelius, Flying Dutchman, The Colonel, Whalebone, J Waxy, Pot Bos., Eclipse, &c. j The Proprietors confidently expect to see this grandly bred son of The Painter j as worthily represent his Sire at the j Stud, as (heir other great horse Sornnu? j has done to perpetuate the name of the mighty Traducer.
