For several Seasons he performed successfully in the Nelson District, both on Ihe flat aDd over hurdles, his last performances being on last New Year's Day. wln-n lie won the Motueka Hurdles, carrying the lop weight list 2'b, and the Motueka Cup, also lop weight, 9st 21bs. He stood one Season at tbe Stud, viz. : in 1887, the result being a very promising lot of youngsters. As will be seen by his tabulated pedigree, Lochnagar shows a powerful combination of stout winning strains, nolably The Marquis, Stockwell, Tbe Baron, Irish Birdcatcher, Cinizelli, Touchstone, Pocahontas, Melbourne, Glencoe, Bay Middleton, Fisherman, Emelius, Flying Dutchman, The Colonel, Whalebone, Waxy, Pot Bos., Eclipse, &c.
