♦ TURAKINA V. FEILDING.
By " Free-Kick." The return match between the abov< clubs was played on the Oval on Saturday and resulted in rather an easy victory foi the local team by Bight points (2 goals am 2 tries) to nil. Polio-wing ar© the naraei of the Feilding team and the places thej occupied :— Full back. Dyer; three-quar ters, Gregory, Robinson and Henry halveß, Harmer and R. Parr ; Forwards, Keightly, Hodges, Iveson, Bray, Evans Kitchen, Nelson, R. and J. Whisker, Messrs P. T. Lethbridge and A. Cathrc umpired while Mr Hartgill acted ac referee. When the visitors appeared on the field it was expected they would give the local team some trouble before the game was finished, a better lot of well built active young men could not be equalled for a football team, but the local team proved themselves superior to them in every department of the game. There is no doubt with a bit more practice and experience the Turakina team will give a good account of themselves in the football field. About a minute after the start Henry Tan in and scored a try, which Robinson failed to convert. Gregory and J. Whisker each scored a try before the first spell -ended, the lonner getting in after making a brilliant run. Eobinson succeeded in converting one of them into a goal from a splendid Jack. In the second term the visitors played up much better than they <hd the first, but were unable to score. Towards the end of the spell Harmer made a beautiful pass to Henry who ran in. and gained another try right behind the post, Robinson kicking a goal from it. The winners ali played well, Gregory (back) and J. Whisker (forward) perhaps were the most noticeable as both played a magnificent game all through. Knox, Cameron and Simpson were the best on the Turakina side. A banner was presented to the Feilding Football Club, by Mrs Parr, before the match, commenced on Saturday. Mrs Parr, who has two sous in the Crab, made the presentation and in doing so said she Loped the Club would continue the career of victory they had marked out in the past. Mr Robert Whisker, the captain of the team,, made a neat speech in response. He expressed his grateful thanks on behalf of, the Club, and said the presence of ladies on the ground during the matches, while being a cause of emulation also put the men on their good behaviour and the amenities were more likely to be strictly followed when under their encouraging «y<es. The men then gave three hearty cheers for the kind donors of the banner.
