This district is still going ahead in the way of buildings, Mr Robert Brown is having a substantial dwelling:; house erected upon his land on Midland road and Mr Alfred Goldfinch is also erecting a nice residence on the same road. Besides these the timber js upon the ground • for two more, one "being for Messrs J. and F. Allerby of the Valley road and the other for Mr Fergusson of the Taonui road. Bushf iling is again in fullswing here and the* sounds of the axe may be heard upon every road in the district. Owing to the recent rains the feed is freshening up wonderfully fast and the stock is already improving. Althoueh the rains were wanted by the farmers, badly enough, it has made the roads, which are full of holes, somewhat sloppy, and the sooaer some metal is put on, the better.
