Messrs John Davie and Jones (Messrs P. Hayman and Co.) were appointed to investigate the statement. Christchurch, June 12. Messrp G. Hart and J. Anderson, sen., sat to day at the Provincial Chambers as a Board of Reviewers, to determine the assessment of the Midland Railway Company's property in New Zealand, for the purpose of the property tax. George Harper appeared for tho Company, and G. Joynt lor the Property Tax Commissioner. The Board ultimately decided that the next yalue of the property liable to the tax, after allowing for the £500 exemption, should staud at £190,760 14s Bd.
