The Wellington Murder

I PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION, f Wellington, June 3. Hawki&'s death is now considered a case of murder. The result of the post mortem has not been disclosed. It is known however, that a charge of shot was found in the body, and that there are a number of stabs in the neck. Vengeance, not robbery, is believed to have been the motive. The police searched the bouse of an Italian who is believed to have quarrelled with Hawkins, but found nothing to connect him with the crime. At the inquest on the body of Hawkins, hig wifo gave evidence that about two months ago deceased came home much put out because Louis Chemis, a man who worked on the road, had sworn at him and said he would have him yet. There was a law suit pending in respect of a fifty acre section rented from her husband by Chemis. The inquest was adjourned.
