800 HUNDEED PERSONS BURNED TO DEATH 25,000 THOUSAND PERSONS DEOWNED. New York, June 2. It is conjectured by some that 25,000 parsons were drowned by the floods at Johnstown, and that 800 perished in the burning debris. June 3. Communication with Johnstown has been restored. The distress from the flood is appalling in (Jovenmaui'h Valley, the farms, mills, hamlets, and towns aro a vast scene of desolation. Then ands of people have been swept away. The Oambriar ironworks, at Johnstown, at which 7000 men wei c employed, haye been completely destroyed. The suddenness with which the disaster overtook the residents was something terrible. A waterspout broke the dam of the rossrvoir on Friday afternoon, and a torrent of water, forty feet deep, struck Johnstown within half an hour, submerging the town. Only two roofs remained above water.
