Nothing further came out at the inquest of Mrs McKenna, except that she was a woman of sober habits. The medical testimony was that she died from failure of the heart's action, and not by drowning, and a verdict was giveu accordingly. This is the fifth death lately through falling over unprotected breastwork.
Ministers have been holding meetings in the Cabinet night and day for some time, preparing work for Parliament, Sir F. Whitakerand the Hon. E. J. C. Stevens having come to Welhngton for that purpose. Mr Stevens left for Christchurch to-day, the Hon. Mr Mitchelson having returned from the North. Tbe Hon. Mr Bichardson is expected to return from the West Coast in a day Or two.
