Th« re-hearing of the charges against Charles Lucas, for criminal assault took place yesterday. There will be a meeting of the Sohool Committee this evening. As the business is more than usually important a fall attendance is expected. An old Maori man, about 84 years of age, was burned to death in his whare at Matihiwi, a pa down the river from the Itangitikei Bridge, on Friday last. Messrs F. R. Jackson and Co. desire us to state the sale s.t Mr McDonald's, at Awahuri, has been postponed until a future date, of which due notice will be given. Donovan, winner of the Prince of Wales Stakes at Leicester the other day, has won £28,000 m stakes, as he is only a three-year-old now, he is a bigger winner than Ormonde. A splendid lot of Japanese ornamental goods will be sold by Messrs Stevens and Gorton at The Other House, on Friday next. See hand bills and advertisement. The articles will be on view after to-day on the premises.
