("per united prhss association.) Auckland, April 29. A fatal gun accident occured at Mainga karamea, abont 20 miles from Wnangarei, on Saturday. A party of voting men were out shooting. Mr William Meade. manager of the local cheee factory, and a friend of his from Auckland, were among the number. By some means, not quitn clear, the letter's gun went off, and the shot lodged in Meade't groin. The unfortunate man died a few hours after. He was 25 years of age, and leaves a wife and one child. This Day. The annual meeting of the Ban'c of New Zealand commenced at n< © . The report of the Directors for the balf year's operations was as follows : — Net profit for half year ended March 81, £43,360 is lid; it is proposed to declare a dividend of 7 per cent.
