A report is ourrrent here to the effect that the ex-King of Servia divorced his wife and abdicated the Throne under the influence of a suggestion made to him, while in a hypnotic state, by Madame Christies, wife of the politician of that name. It is further stated that this lady frequently used King Millan as a mesmeric medium. London, April 17. It is reported that the placing of the balance of the South Australian loan at par early in the present month was merely a nominal transaction, and that the South Australian Government will be compelled to give brokers a private concession, equivalent to one-half per cent. Sir Arthur Blyth, Agent-General for South Australia, refuses to give any information on the subject. The ratification of the Sugar Bounties Convention by Parliament is considered doubtful. The sugar market is much excited owing to a remark let fall by Baron de Worms in a speech introducing the Bill in the House of Commons, to the effect tiut there was likely to be a scarcity of sugar in the market : tb.ia season m cousequeuce of the small yields estimated to be obtained from the Cuban crop.
