It has been ascertained that Miss Mary Anderson is suffering from affection of the brain, and the disease having taking a turn for the worse, she has been placed in a private asylum for the insane. Her dramatic company has been disbanded. Mr Goschen is appointing a committee of the House of Commons to promote emigration to the colonies. Lord Salisbury, in the course of a speech at Watford, Hertu, said the Government intend to restore order in Ireland, enlarge the scope of Lord Ashbourne's Act, grant local Government, and thereby squelch the agitation for Home Rule. Files received by the mail give details of the wreck of the steamer Eemus. She struck on a rock two days' sail from Manilla, floated off and foundered in deep water. Of 162 souls on board, 42 were drowned.
