Native Disturbance at Hawkes Bay

A native disturbance is threatened at Omaha. Airiui Donnelly's natives lay claiin'to the land on which Broughton lives, and have broken down fences and proceeded to plough theland. -

News has been received from Omaha that this afternoon various natives prepared to carry the house by assault. They were actually ad* vanciug, when the Broughton people went ioto the building and threw rifleand gun barrels through the windows, evidently determined to fire. Airini's people carried no arms. The police got between the contending fires, and managed to stop the assault. Broughton and some Europeans, who had gone to help him, were Beized, bound, and thrown into a ditch, but the police made the natives liberate them. Inspector Kiely has only seven men under him, and more cannot be spared. The natives on both sides are camped now, and no disturbance is anticipated in the night, but it is feared that in the morning a more serious affray may ensue. Captain Preece is energetically endeavoring to bring the natives *x> reason— acting as mediator.
