It is reported that the Government will propose, next year, to apply fifty million pounds in extending Lord Ashbourne'sAct in Ireland. For beef and mutton prices are unchanged. Stocks, however, are decreasing. The total quantity of wool arrived* to date amounts to 263,600 bales; sent for- - ward direct, 5&,600 bales ; total available* for the series, 335.000 Heavy gales have been raging on the west coast of Scotland, and 12 fishermen, have been reported drowsed at Storn- , away. : The demand for wheat is easier. New Zealand sorts are quoted at 5s 2d- There are no Victorian or South Australian ; sorts in the market. < • Bbiskane, March 22. Terrible accounts are coming 1 to- hand of the effects of the drought in the western ' districts, where the railways are being: utilised to convey starving sheep to the coast districts, . Aimuime. March 22. The Rev. Mr Taplin, while endeavoring; to rouse a lady lodger, was burned to> death in the fire which partially destroyed, the Coffee Palace this morning. Calcutta, March 21. An aeronaut named Spencer made an ascent from this city to-day. He forgot to take his parachute, and it i» believed that he has been carried out to sea.
