Beaconsfield Notes
[from our own correspondent.]
The usual monthly meeting of the Beaconsfield School Committee was held on Friday night. Present — Messrs Cunningham (chairman), Paul, Stewart, Benson, and Phynn. The business was to elect three members for the Education Board. Messrs Fry, Carson, and Robs were voted for.
Later in the evening a meeting of settlers was held to consider complaints against the present mail service. Mr Phynn was voted to the chair, Mr Penberthy raid a copy of a letter written by Mr Benaemunn, Waituna, to the Postmaster-General, expressing dissatisfaction with the present mail service, stating it was more convenient for him and his neighbors to get their letters at Makino. All present, excepting, of course, Mr Beasemann, agreed that an indiscriminate delivery at Makino of letters addressed to Cunningham's would soon deprive us of a bi-weekly service. Proposed by Mr Benson, seconded by Mr Paul, That the bi-weekly mail service has given every satisfaction, and that all letters addressed to Cunningham's be forwarded to that office, leaving to Mr Penberthy's discretion the delivery of any that may seem
urgent at his office (Makino.) The resolution was carried, only Mr Bensemaun disseutiug. The resolution was ordered to be sent to the Postmaster • General along with Mr Penberthy's report of the matter.
A hearty vote of thanks was given to Mr Penberthy for his frieudly care of our mail service. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
