Acclimitisation Society

* Pursuant to notice the annual meet ing of the above was held on Satui day night. There was a modern! attendance, Dr Johnston presiding. The minutes of the previous auuua meeting were read and confirmed. The President gave a brief resum< of the proceedings of the Society dur ing the past j'ear. The balance sheet was read anc adopted. The following were then electee members of the Council: — Dr John stou, Messrs Benson, Lethbridge, Kirton, Sherwill, Hay Little, Goodbehere, A K. Curtis, Beattie, P. Bartholomew, Dowues, and Bull. Dr Johnston was appointed President ; Mr Sherwill, Vice- President; Mr Beattie, Secretary and Treasurer Resolved, That the dates of opening and closing the season for native game be April Ist to July 31st, both days inclusive ; for imported game, from May Ist to July 31st; to be shot — cock pheasants and quail. The Secretary was instructed to recommend that hares be again included. ilesolved, The license fee be £l, with a recommendation to the Gi verament to fix a uniform gun license of 10s. Resolved, Tha* the Secretary write to the several societies in the colony, asking them to give their support to the imposing of such gun license ; also to ask Messrs Wilson, Bruce, and Macarthur, M H.R.s, to support auy measure in the House having that object. The usual houorarium of £5 5s was voted to the Secretary, and the thanks of the Society to Mr W. G. Haybittle who nad kindly acted as Auditor. The usual vote of thanks to the chair terminated the proceedings.
