It is a coinpositioi i which, when trees are inoculated wit) 9 it, mingles itself with the sap an< 1 circulates through every branch anc ? leaf, utterly destroying the life am , rendering the standing trees in tLre< , mouths' time dead and rotten, and si 1 highly inflammable that when fired i , burns away literally toot and branch » for the fire creeps even down th( • roots into the ground, consuming then t so thoroughly that the land can b< • ploughed afterwards. It is availabh also for old stumps, thus doing in i > month what nature takes years t( accomplish. The process of inocula< • tion is simplicity itself, requiring liith i labour. It is simply the boring of t i hole about six inches into the tre< : with an inch augur, filling with com- • position, and afterwards plugging < with cork, tough clay, or other suit able substance. It has had s< verai tria's and h s done effectual vo k in all cases, in one instance 700 acres having been cleared with it, every tree being succejsfu'ly dealt with This will be welcome news for the bush settlers, as not only saving much labour, but addiug to the value oi land by a much quicker and more thorough clearance, and by bringing it into an earlier condition for cropping. It is also very inexpensive, not costing more than a few pence for large tree. — Post.
