A GRIEVANCE.
TO THK EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir,—^l know more about a vertical saw, but I will try to write in the h >pcs of doing some good. You are doubtless aware that one firm of sawmillers have reduced their wages to 6s per day, and other millers will, I presume, do the same, in order to ompete with them. Now, a great deal of labor in a sawmill is skilled labor, and it does seem monstrous that this should come down to such an ebb, especially hard on men with families. The sooner the men form a union to protect themselves, and theroby stop the cut throat business now going on between sawmill proprietors, which must be the cause of such low wages, the better for, yours, &c, A Taonui Working Man. Taonui, February 26, 1389.
