♦ The following are the names of the team chosen by the match committee of the Manchester Rifles to compete with the Marton Rifles on March 2nd: — Captain Pleasants, Lieutenant Chamberlain, Color-Sergeant Bilderbeck, Sergeants Evans aud Henson, Corporal Reid, Volunteers O'Toole, Humphries, Bennett, and Dr Johnston Emergency men, Gosliug and Poad. At the parade last night, Captain Pleasants in command, there was a full attendance of officers and men. At the conclusion of the drill Lieutenant Chamberlain was unanimously reelected. There will be no parade on Friday March Ist, to enable those members who desire it, to attend the Mauawatu races on thai; day. The officers oi the various volunteer corps in Nelson will meet to-night to arrive at a decision on the question as to whether they will hold an Easter encampment there or not. The Government having declared their inability to render any assistance, therefore the various corps are thrown on their own resources.
