m , ,2*o. p WARD LOAN. A meeting,, of ratepayers of No. 5 'ward' was held last ! ev'euing at Messrs Bailey Bros, sawmill, Taonui. Wjr Bull Was in the chair: The question wa& asked, why £4000 was to be borrowed now, the same as before, .w.hon, the bridge was included. The Chairman explained that som|e roads yw ere iueluded iu the present schedule that were left out in the previous one, aud ;Bo_ae of the amounts had been increased, as they were found to.be insufficient. In answer to a question, the Chairman said that the' Special Rate must be Collected, but the General Rate would be lowered after this year, so that the whole rate would be very little, if any, higher than the general rate is nowProposed by Mr Dixon, seconded by MrMvYL. Bailey, and carried unr auimously, That this meeting approves ofthe poll- oeiug taken for the proposed loan, and pledges itself to support it. ' The poll is to be taken on Monday, March 4th, .1889, at Messrs Bailey Bros.' sawmill, Taonui.
