Kiwitea Road Board
The ordinary monthly meeting of th above was held on Saturday last. Fresen — Messrs Taylor (chairman), Williamson Mills, Lucas, and Haythorne. The minutes of the last ordinary meet ing were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From J. Jeffries, asking that something be done to the Main road, Feilding Block From'H. Bbggis, re deviation of Ter race road. From R. Taylor, junr., asking the Board to repair the upper Kiwitea Bridge, From Commissioner of Crown Lands, re reserve Te Rewa. From F. A. Homer, Apiti, asking the Board to make a track to his section. From J. C. Gavin (Treasury), applying for payment of half yearly interest on loan, £36 9s9d. From Surveyor-General, agreeing to expend £150 on Apiti track, if the Board will spend \& for £- From August Ehlein, applying for payment for removing fence on his boundary, Pohaugina. From D. H. Macarthur, informing the Board that he had interviewed the Minister of Lands, who had agreed to spend £ for £ with the Kiwitea Road Board to the extent of £150 on the Apiti track. From S. Bellve, applying for balance of amount due for faH'tig bush on roadline. From A. H. Brandon, notifying sale oi section 307 to the Rev. W. CanneU. From J. K. Simpson, applying _ for afaragb.ter.ng license for section 259, Kiwitea. From J. W. Marchant, re deferred thirds. From Auditor-General, applying for payment of cost of auditing the Board's accounte— £2 13s 4d. From Colonial Treasurer, with statement of loan subscribed— £3oß7 2s 6d. Mr Phynn waited on the Board re upper Kiwitea Bridge, and he was informed that if he could obtain the consent of Mr Oldershaw to make a ford on bis property the Board would find the labor. Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Taylor, That the Secretary apply to the Government for the extra 10 per cent, on loan of £3000, under section 21 of the Act, as the amount is not sufficient to complete the work.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Haythorne, seconded by Mr Taylor, That a slaughter license be granted to J. X, Simpson, but that he be informed that the Act will be strictly enforced with reference to keeping account of brands of animals slaughtered — Carried. Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Mills, That the sum of £15 be paid to Mr Ehlein for the removal of his fence as agreed. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Mills, That a sum of £5 be voted to the Secretary for extra clerical work in connection with loan, such sum to be paid oat of Pohangina funds. — Carried. Resolved, That the Engineer visit and report upon, at next meeting, Haynes' xoad, with reference to the advisability of making deviation. Proposed by Mr Williamson, seconded by Mr Taylor, That the Engineer be instructed to call for tenders for road formation on Benson's road to amount to £50, and to the amount of £70 on Williamson's road, in forming, metalling, and cnlverting, as soon as the sanction of the Land Board for the expenditure of the same is received. — Carried. Resolved, That the thanks of the Board be tendered to Mr Macarthur for his assistance in obtaining the vote of £150 from Government for the Feilding Apiti The following tenders were received for metalling the Zig-zag road;: — J. Carmody, 19/11 per chain ; Youn rer"& Laing, 24/5 ; R. Bowler, 25/- ; E. G. MsDermott, 22/3; E. Morris, 18/11. Tbdooko Bridub Track, Oboua "Vai.ijsy.—Klink & Holmes, £21 15/- ; Haggerty & Co., £24 15/- ; A. McKenzie, 8/6 per chain. Trimming Batter on Taonui Road. — G. Ashworth (informal), 9/6 per chain ; B. Poole, 9/6 ; T. Hislop, 18/- ; Klink & Holmes, 11/9 ; T. Meehan, 21/6 ; Younger A Laing, 22/11. Resolved, That the tender of B. Poole for Taonui road (9/6), E. Morris for Zigzag road (18/11), and A. McKenzie for Oroua Valley road (3/6 per chain) be accepted. The usual monthly accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
