It is stated that Cuirassier will not be taken to Melbourne to fulfil engagements at the V.B.C. The heavy rams of the last 24 hours have caused a big flood iv the rivers, one of the largest experienced for some time, much snow water having come down ; no damage is reported. The miners are well supplied with water, while the damp weather nas proved of great assistance to the root crops. Oamabtj, January 30. A reaper and binder trial competition takes place on Friday, for which seven machines havo been entered— the McCormiok, Hornby, Buckeye, Deermg, Wood, Reid and Grey, and another. A heavy shower of rain fell last night, and the crops and grass were greatly benefittad by it. Wellington, This Day. Welcome rain, the first for the month, set in last night and is still falling steadily. Auckland, This Day. A bush fire has been raging for a week in the Bangea at Waiorongomai. At Te Aroha two eetttlers houses were burned down. The fire isjiow abating.
