The election for the Department of the Seine took place to-day^ when General Boulanger was returned. He polled 244,000 and M. Jacques 162,---000. Contrary to expectation, there was little excitement in Paris over theelection.

The aristocrats' quarters waretranquil, but the French students made a demonstration of hostility, and it was found necessary to maw the troops in order to quell any disturbance. January 28. ~ .
