The Feilding Star. THURSDAY, JANUARY 24, 1889. Charitable Aid
In the HoTritika JGuardiaa we see a report of the Westland Charitable Aid Board, and although it contains the usual amount of attack and recrimination that diggings representative bodietr bo freely indulge in, yefc
there are always scintillations ot orignal thought worth mentioning. The ohief discussion was anent that much vexed question of what to do with chronic and incurable patients, and though they ended much ahoiit where they began, we canuot help noticingthat one member drew attention to the personal hardships for accidents to he ,emoved completely out of their own district away from the neighborhood i>f their interest 3, and beyond reach of their friends and relatives, whilst another shrewd observation was made that coutains both wit and sense : ■'That the friction between the differeut governing bodies would disappear if they were merged into one." The question of Hospital supply and demand in this district will soon become a burning one, and wrinkles like the above may prove valuable if kept in mind.
