To-day we publish the schedule of works to be done by the Board in l\ T o. 5 ward, out of a loan of £4000 proposed to be raised for the purpose unddr the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886. The loan will be repaid in twenty-six years at five pounds per centum per annum, to meet wbich a special rate of fiveeighths of a penny in the £ will be levied on the whole of the rateable property in No. 5 ward. The works scheduled are those which have been for the past few years most urgently demanded by the settlers in the several parts of the ward affected, and this is practically the first time any loan proposal has ever been put before them of a character capable of meeting the desires and requirements of everybody. As far as we can leara there is no possible objection to be raised to the scheme, while the advantages it offers are almost incalculable. Settlers who are now in point of fact, at certain seasons of the year isolated, and thus prevented having communication of any kind with Feilding, except with the greatest difficulty, will — when the new roads are opened — be able to ride or drivein on « level iiig&way. Another great point is that the "whole road system of the ward will then be completed. "We trust the ratepayers will eagerly avail themselves of this opportunity and will poll their votes unanimously in favor of the loan.
