WHEAT MARKET. SAFETY OF STANLEY CONFIRMED MORE DUELS. By Electric Telegraph. — Copyrihgt. [pee press association.] Received January 17, 1 p.m. Brussels, January 17. A letter has been received, addressed by Stanley to a native chief, confirming previous reports, dated Aagust 17, of the safety of Emm Pasha and Captain Casati, an Italian traveller. London, January 17. The English wheat market has experienced a general decline of 6d per quarter. Continental market is depressed, and American weak with declining tendency. Mr Justice Boyd, of Dublin, committed a reporter for contempt of Court because he refused to deliver up his notes of a speech by P. Mahoney, M.P. Mr J. Greenwood, until lately editor of St. James Gazette, asserts Bismarck attempted to " nobble" the paper, and he has resigned in consequence. St. Petersburg January 17. Russia intends to raise the effective strength of her army on the German and Austrian frontiers. Paris, January 17. Rochfort, an editor, insulted M. Ajory, another Communist. A duel followed with swords, both men being wounded. Sydney, This Day. Four men went out fishing, and have not turned up. They are supposed to be drowned.
